It is with peace that we announce the sudden passing of our mother Phyllis McDonald on Wednesday August 13th, 2014. Mom was born in St.Thomas on August 9, 1927. She was the youngest daughter to Samual and Ida Davy. Raised in Wallacetown, Ontario , she grew up helping with the family restaurant/garage business along with siblings, Gladys Graham, Florence Lamb, Marion Foreman and Bob Davy, all predeceased. Until In the summer of 1945 when she fell in love with Charlie McDonald during a summer church picnic, in which they married soon after all while adoring 65 years of marriage before Dad passed in 2011. During those years her greatest gifts where her family, raising three children William “Bill” McDonald of Toronto , Charlene Thwaites (Gord Bacon) of Union , Christopher (Margaret Ann) McDonald of Tecumseh, and Predeceased by their infant daughter Crystal Phyllis McDonald. Mom and Dad spent years of traveling and making fond memories with many family and friends to countless locations all over the globe, and yet enjoying the simple things in life, like her music and her feline friends. Her Late night phone calls, enduring love and support will be greatly missed by her Granddaughter Cindy Thwaites-Meredith (Gary Meredith ) of St. Thomas, Ryan Thwaites (Tammy) of Aylmer , Christopher and Ian McDonald of Tecumseh and Billy Lynch of Toronto, predeceased by her grandchildren Stacey McDonald and Gregory Thwaites. Phyllis was blessed to be able to enjoy five great grandchildren, Joshua Meredith, Kayla and baby Kayden Thwaites, Kaitlyn and Ashley Lynch, all which she was so proud of. Her life with Charlie, her children and grandchildren was a cherished time for her, but she was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends. It is with special Thanks for the help from our cousins Bill and Jackie Lidster of Wallacetown, for the countless hours to ensure Mom stayed in her home up until the last week. This along with the friends and family that visited her at the hospital enabled her to find warmth in the love that surrounded her before slipping away in a peaceful sleep . She lived an incredible 87 years, one that she would have called a great life.
Friends will be received at the Arn Funeral Home 193 Shackleton Street Dutton 519-762-2416 Friday 7-9 where the funeral service will be held on Saturday August 16th, 2014 at 11 A.M. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. Donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation or Humane Society would be appreciated. Email condolences
