McCutcheon, Ruth of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, October 10th, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late John Ford “Jack” McCutcheon and dearly loved mother of Susan Nishi (Terry), Sandra Wilson and Michael McCutcheon. Much loved grandmother of Sean McCutcheon, Scott (Melissa) and Brad (Carolyn) Cowie, Naomi Nishi (Charlie) and Ryan Nishi and great grandmother of Mason and Rylan. Dear sister of David Ryan (Joan) of Ajax . Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by her four legged friend Sophie. Ruth was born in St. Thomas on January 9th, 1918, the daughter of the late David and Mary (Higginbottom) Ryan. She retired from Eaton Yale. Ruth was a member of St. Mark’s United Church where she served on numerous Church Boards, sang in the choir and was a member of the U.C.W. . She served in the W.D. in the Air Force during W.W.II. She served on the Board of C.O.P.E., was a member of the Elgin County Retirees and was past President, Charter member of the Labour Temple, volunteered at the Christmas Shop and worked with the Ladies Auxiliary of Extendicare.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s United Church, St. Thomas on Monday at 1:00 p.m. . Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Research or the War Amps.
