McCurdy, Dr. Howard Douglas Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Dr. Howard Douglas McCurdy Jr. at the age of 85.  Beloved husband of Dr. Brenda Lee Wright McCurdy for 41 years.  Adored father of Leslie Lorraine McCurdy, Linda Louise McCurdy LLB, Cheryl Lauralyn McCurdy Ducré and husband Arnold Ducré, Brian Douglas Howard McCurdy Sr. Treasured grandfather of Yolanda, Mark, Vincent, Lutece, Courtlin, Brian Jr., Neely, Linden, Nina, Paloma and Briona. Much loved great grandfather of Shayna, Aaliyah, Adam Jr., and great-great grandpa of Aisha.  Dearest brother of Marilyne Bernice Seabury McCurdy. Cherished nephew of Dorothy Watkins and Laura Jean Heron. Sadly missed by his sister-in-law Gayle Littell, nephew Jamin, wife Melissa and daughter Lily, and nieces Tikia Reynolds, husband Homer and Charmian Bonner.  Predeceased by his parents Marian Bernice and Howard Douglas McCurdy Sr.  Also predeceased by his niece Denise Seabury, his nephew Nelson Douglas Seabury and his sister-in-law Sandra Wright Bonner (survived by Dr. Lloyd Bonner).  Forever remembered by a host of cousins, extended family and friends. For his lifetime achievements in Science, Civil Rights, Community Service and Politics, he was awarded the Canadian Centennial Medal, The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal, The Order of Ontario and The Order of Canada, amongst many other accolades.  Most of all, he was a proud father and grandfather and devoted husband to his wife.  He was also a valued mentor to those who had the privilege of experiencing his tutelage.  He was known as a passionate golfer.  If you so desire, donations to The Kidney Foundation/Windsor & District Chapter or Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.  Visitation Friday, March 2, 2018 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.  A Memorial Service to honour Dr. McCurdy’s life will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.  at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
