LegionMcAFFER, Mrs. Judith K. “Judy” (nee Calder), a lifelong resident of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at the age of 68 years. Beloved wife of William O. “Bill” McAffer. Dearly loved mother of Scott McAffer and Tracy Chase, and cherished grandmother of Zachery Chase, all of St. Thomas. Dear sister of William “Bill” Calder Jr. (Kris) of St. Thomas. Also fondly remembered by several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Born in St. Thomas, September 17, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Calder Sr. and the late Audrey (nee Gliddon) Calder. Judy was a retired kitchen aide at Parkside Collegiate Institute, St. Thomas, and a former secretary with the Elgin County Branch of the Ontario Provincial Police. She was a former member of Alma Street Presbyterian Church. Judy was a member of Lord Elgin Branch #41, Royal Canadian Legion, St. Thomas, where she was formerly active on the executive. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). Private interment of her cremated remains will be made in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to Community Living Elgin will be gratefully acknowledged.
