From fashion model and cover girl in Switzerland to cattle farmer in Canada.

Our beautiful, elegant, spirited Lydia (nee Brechbuehl) of Lakeport and Toronto died on November 12, 2017 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg with family at her side.

Adored wife of Ewald Philip (d. 1988), beloved mother of Marcy (Trent), Marilyn (David), Maureen (Mic), Mac (Marg), Diff (Sophia), Milton (Patti); Loved and admired grandmother and great-grandmother of Karen (Nabil, Niki, Nolan, Nora); Wendy (Hawkin); Brett (Aleksandra, Paris, Violet); Justine (Diego); Bryon (Jennifer, Ethan, Nolan); Amy (Al, Dawson, Benjamin); Edward (Amy); Benjamin; loved by family in Switzerland, France, Poland, Germany. The trilingual (German, French, English) daughter of a Swiss farmer in canton Bern, Lydia was a proud member of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture. She loved farming, her cattle, current affairs, and Canadian literature, and won the admiration of the community for the award-winning upkeep of her farms and the Lakeport roadsides, along the Waterfront Trail.  A funeral service by Rev. Edward Cachia will take place on Monday November 20 at 11 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church, Grafton.  Interment St. George’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers she would be so pleased by donations to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, as she loved the staff and considered them family.  Condolences received at www.MacCoubrey.com
