With her friends at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, Betty Ann Mathers passed away at the age of 66. Betty Ann is survived by her loving Coco and fondly remembered by her friends Linda Kennedy, Dave, Marni, Peter, Mian, Ralph, Sheila, Rudy, Doug, Detra, Dave, Leslie, Rita, Norm, Shelley and Leslie.  Betty Ann is predeceased by Ginger and her parents Mary and Robert Mathers. She is survived by Carol, Brenda and Mary Jane. Betty was a dedicated member of Sarnia Handicapped Aiming for Rehabilitation and Equality Inc. (S.H.A.R.E) and Bluewater Baptist Church. She was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge, 403 Wing, the Navy Club and the Legion. Betty and her parents were founders of the ongoing Sarnia Seniors Cruise (with Peter Henderson and the Duc D’Orleans). Betty was recently recognized by Mayor Mike Bradley for her long standing service in the community with the Seniors Cruise. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, especially local Bingo players and cab drivers. Betty would like to thank the many Bluewater Baptist Church members and friends who helped her (and Coco) at home, Bluewater Health Palliative Care staff, Dr. Crombeen, and the St. Joseph’s Hospice volunteers and staff. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Smith Funeral Home, at 3:00 p.m. with family and friends being received one hour prior to service. Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Sarnia Handicapped Aiming for Rehabilitation and Equality Inc. (S.H.A.R.E.), (cheques only at the funeral home please).
