MARLATT: Mrs Doris Evelyn (nee Pitt), of St. Thomas
MARLATT, Mrs. Doris Evelyn (nee Pitt) , of Caressant Care on Mary Bucke, St. Thomas, formerly of R.R.#1, Union, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her late residence on Sunday, January 20, 2013, in her 87th year. Wife of the late Charles Edward “Ted” Marlatt (2006). Mother of Louise, Fred, John, Edy, and the late Steven (2005). She is also survived by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born December 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Ada (nee Stacey) Pitt (1951). Evelyn went from city slicker to country girl, but she took it all in stride and enjoyed her life and all its bumps along the way. She always greeted you with a smile and a hug and if you played your cards right, a pie. If she complained, you’d better take it seriously because she rarely spoke badly of anyone or anything. Evelyn was one of a kind. A gentle soul who will be sorely missed by all she touched. A private family graveside service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. Evelyn would have appreciated donations being made to the Caring Cupboard, Caressant Care on Mary Bucke (Activity), or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
