WEB_Marentette_LarryLawrence J. Marentette, 99, of Sarasota Florida, formerly of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, died on June 23, 2013.  For 58 years he was the devoted husband of his wife, Blanche (Fradette) Marentette until her passing in 2004.  He is survived by his son, Paul Lawrence Marentette and his partner, Robert Gutierrez of Sarasota, FL.; his beloved sister Patricia Marcotte and her husband, David Marcotte of Kanata, Ontario, Canada; his sister Hortense Neitzel of Michigan; and numerous nephews and nieces.  He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Leo and Vincent and his sisters Florence McCullough, Frances Finn, Antoinette Tales and Agnes Seguin. Born and raised in Windsor, Mr. Marentette had eight siblings and was revered as the patriarch of the family.  Mr. Marentette spent his early career in the automotive industry in Windsor and eventually emigrated with his wife and son and settled in the New York area where he spent the remainder of his career working for a textile firm on Fifth Avenue. Mr. Marentette and his wife were avid Bridge players and they enjoyed travelling often during their retirement years in Florida. Donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or to the charity of your choice.  Cremation services were held. Friends are invited to join the family Friday after 10:30 am followed by a memorial service at 11:30am at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841.  Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
