MANCELL: Glen Allan

Suddenly at his home on Monday March 25, 2013 at the age of 78. Glen was born Dec. 20, 1934 to parents Allan and Edna Mancell in Chatham, and was raised and continued to live his life just outside the community of Fletcher. Glen married his best friend and sweetheart Joanne (Finlin) on Aug. 4 1956 and together, continued to enjoy their retirement years hand in hand, keeping busy with various activities, volunteering at St. Patrick’s Church, and within the community, active member of St. Patrick’s & St. Peters K of C Corpus Christi Council 11891.. Glen’s early career as a truck driver with Frederick Transport fostered his love for being on the highway, and after 35 years with the Kent County Roads Department. Glen retired from his supervisor role in 1998. Glen liked to keep busy and thus enjoyed a good game of cards whenever possible, travelling, reading and giving a helping hand frequently to those in need. Glen will be forever remembered by his sons Patrick and his wife Rosalie (Badura) and Greg and his wife Michelle (Reynolds) of Merlin area and his daughter in law Patricia Mancell (Stickles) of Harrow. Devoted and dearly loved grandfather of Cameron Mancell of North York, Mackenzie Mancell, Amy (van Hintum) and Dane Sanford and Gary van Hintum all of Harrow. Glen will be tenderly remembered by his two sisters Marion and Allan Cranston of Comber, and June and Gary Guyitt of Ridgetown and his sister in laws Carol (Finlin) Mancell and Lynda (Finlin) and Bev Seney of Chatham. of Merlin area. Uncle Glen will also be dearly missed by a vast number of nieces and nephews. Glen is predeceased by his beloved son Michael Mancell (2009), brother Murray Mancell (2004), and nephew Barry Mancell (2001), his father Allan (1996), mother Edna (2012) Friends will be received at the Secord & Smith Funeral Home 8 Aberdeen St. Merlin on Wednesday March 27, 2013 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Life Celebration Service from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church Thursday March 28, 2013 at 11:00am. Father John Johnson officiating. Interment in St. Patrick’s Church Cemetery, Merlin.
