Lucille Malyk, 78, of Saskatoon, died after a brief illness on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at St Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. with her family by her side. She was born Elsie Lucille Malyk on November 2, 1948 in Glaslyn, SK, to Glen and Doris Perry. She married Don Malyk in 1954 and together they had 2 sons.
Surviving are her son Ron (Patty) Malyk of Prince George, BC, granddaughters Sara (Greg) Dowling of Calgary and Jenny Malyk (Tyler Johnson) and one great grandson Nolan Dowling and also 3 nieces – Sandy (Blaine) Cisna, Laurie (Bryan) Grimson and Jenny Crawford and 2 nephews Lloyd Crawford and Mike (Marg) Crawford.
Lucille’s father and mother, her eldest son Glen, husband Don and more recently her sister and brother-in-law (Doreen and Gerry Crawford) preceded her in death.
Lucille led a varied and interesting life. She was raised and schooled in Glaslyn then found herself married with 2 boys before the age of 20. Those early years were extremely modest, as she raised her two sons on a small farm with a wood stove and no running water or even indoor plumbing. Eventually they sold the small farm and purchased a chicken farm north of Saskatoon which they ran for several years before moving to a new house in Saskatoon. In 1983 Don passed suddenly and tragically leaving Lucille a widow.
She loved outings with Gerry and Doreen whether it be a dinner theater, a day of yard sales or a trip to A & W. More recently she enjoyed card games, shopping and going out with family in Saskatoon. She enjoyed weekend breakfasts with long time friend Sarah Unruh and visiting with her neighbor Florence Malone as well as her many other friends at King George Place.
There will be a come and go Celebration of life at King Edward Place
530 25st East Saskatoon 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday September 3, 2017. There will be no funeral at Lucille’s request.
