Oct 28_10 020John Malick

February 11, 1924 – August 12, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we the family of John Malick announce his passing.

John was born in Regina Saskatchewan Feb 11, 1924. He grew up in Manitoba, only to head for Toronto in his teens. He worked as a tool and die maker in various machine shops and later became employed at Rapistan. Prior to retirement, he was the Production Branch Manager for the March of Dimes.

Golf and travel were passions of John’s, but nothing overshadowed his love for family. He was an awesome son, husband, father, grandfather, great poppa, brother and uncle.  He was one of those “salt of the earth” people that you could only hope to know. If you ever met him then you know that John was genuine, down to earth, caring and empathetic. He was always quick to offer a warm smile, and gentle touch, an anecdote, story and his famous thumbs up.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aleck & Tina Malick; his wife Isobel (Burke); brothers Bill & (twin) Sam Malick and sister Olga Maw.

John is survived by his daughters: Deby Lee (Rick); Robin Doan (Norris); grandsons; Steve Doan (Korrie), Trevor Doan (Shannon) and Great Poppa to Jake & Carson.

Thank you to Dr. Mc Convey and all the staff at Woods Park Care Centre for their care and compassion during John’s final years.

It only takes a few words to tell how much we miss him, but it will take the rest of our lives to forget the day we lost him. Those of us who cherish John will look into his life and find an example of their own.

Celebration of John’s life will be held in the Chapel at Woods Park Care Centre on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 1:30pm.

Thumbs Up2
