MacVICAR, Margaret (née Thompson), of Extendicare, Port Stanley, formerly of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, July 30, 2017, in her 87th year.  Beloved wife of the late William D. “Bill” MacVicar (Dec. 31, 2016).  Mother of Linda Neil of St. Thomas, Kevin Baker (Karen) of Peterborough, Mark Baker (Wendy) of St. Thomas, Jim MacVicar (Nancy) of Devon, AB, Steven MacVicar of Bracebridge, Bill MacVicar, and Lisa Walker (Wayne), all of St. Thomas.  Sister of Vivian Anger of Belmont, Dorothy Beattie of Aylmer, late Rita Pressey, and the late Scott Thompson (Julie of St. Thomas).  Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Born in Bury, Québec, October 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Bertha (née Coates) Thompson.  Margaret was a member of the Evangelical Missionary Church, St. Thomas and a former long-time active member of Alma St. Presbyterian Church.  The funeral service will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday, August 3rd at 10:30 a.m.  Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Wednesday evening, August 2nd from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service.  Memorial donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association (Elgin Branch) or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.  Gratitude is expressed to the doctors, nurses and staff at Extendicare, Port Stanley and the 5th floor of the STEGH for the kind, compassionate care provided to Margaret.
