(October 13, 1947 – December 21, 2012)

Al passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 21, 2012. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 24 years Donna May, his son Christopher (Cheri) and his beloved twins Allysanne and Jordan. Most of all, Al will miss the love of his life, Kaelynn, his grandaughter. Al always felt blessed to be part of Donna May’s family, who adopted him as one of their own. He will be sadly missed by his mother and father-in-law, May and Roy Heslop and by Joanne and Mark, David and Jeanette, Joe and Cheryl, Barbara and Steve and Carolyn and Scott and their families. He is also survived by his brothers Malcom and Eric and his sister Susan and their families.

Born in England, Al came to Canada when he was 10 and made this his home, but he always had a fond connection to England and his family there. Al joined Air Canada in 1979 and was so proud to be part of the Air Canada family. He retired after 25 years and spent his summers cutting grass at the Carlisle Golf and Country Club. Al was passionately involved in Dreams Take Flight, a charity run by Air Canada employees who take disabled and less fortunate children to Disneyland for a day.

Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill Street North, Waterdown on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Dreams Take Flight would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be made at the service or sent to Bill Sanderson, 29 Marina Dr. Caesarea, ON, L0B 1E0.
