McCreery, Ruth – Lover of life, family and nature passed away on Wednesday,
April 25, 2018 at Oxford Gardens Retirement Residence, Woodstock at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late George McCreery (1989). Loving mother of Hugh McCreery (Carol), Jane Wilson (Michael), Jennifer Martin (Gene), John McCreery (Joanne), Joel McCreery and Liam McCreery (Susanne). Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer (Andrew), Liam (Alyssha), Laura, Jennifer, Riley, Keelan (Sarah), Seren (Wes), late Lisa (1991), Christina, Anthony, William, George, Ian, Linnea, Jacob, Nathan, Liam and Kathleen; as well as her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Adam, Owen, Lucas, Lexie, Desmond, Miles, Wyatt and Maeve. “In memory of Ruth’s loving spirit, make a point of showing kindness to a stranger.” The family will receive friends at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N, Woodstock on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 4 – 8 pm for a memorial gathering. Peacefully with family by his side at Victoria Hospital, London, on Monday, April 23, 2018, Jim Ellis in his 78th year. Beloved husband of Dorine (Anderson) Ellis for 48 years. Loving father of David Ellis (Susie), Martin Ellis (Itohan) and Gordon Ellis (Julia). Cherished grandpa of Charlie, Madi, Ginny, Isabelle and Sophia. Dear brother of George Ellis (Beryl), Elsie Bowering (the late Eric) and brother-in-law of Beth Brown (Jack), Bill Anderson (Jan), Eunice Boyd (John), Jane Crawford and Mary Anderson (Bob). Remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Doris, Bertha, Albert, Evelyn and Anne. Jim was an avid runner, outdoors person (camping and gardening), cycling, he had a great love for music and enjoyed singing. He was a kind and gentle person and enjoyed spending time with his family. FORD: Winifred Ruby of Strathroy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother (mum), nanny and great-granny Winifred Ruby Ford on Monday, April 23rd (St. George’s Day), 2018.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry (Henry) Ford in 1993, sisters Doreen (Phil) Read, Audrey (Dennis) Bullen, Valerie (Geoff) Allen) and her brother Sidney (Nelly) Stevens as well as various nieces and nephews in England and the United States. She leaves behind daughter Catharine Anne (Don) Walker and a son David John (Mary) Ford as well as her adored grandchildren Valerie Walker, Elizabeth (Greg) MacDiarmid and Susan (Dave) Noordermeer, Stephen (Heather) Ford and Christopher (Enisa).  Her great-grandchildren Case, James, Nicola, Nathan, Colin and Amelie will miss her humour and kindness.

Mum was known for her sense of humour (a true “Londoner”), her non-judgemental attitude and love of politics and world events as well as music, English comedies, flowers and her favourite past-time reading of which she was a fierce advocate.  Some of her many sayings were “Do it while you can”, “If you have your health, you have everything” and finally “I can’t be bothered” (Laughlingly).

The Funeral Service will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.  Donations would be gratefully received by Strathroy United Church, Oxfam and the Salvation Army.

May we take this occasion to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Strathmere Lodge which has been mum’s home for ten years.  Their love, compassion and care will never be forgotten.  God bless all of you.

Beloved husband of Maria Catharina (Corsten) for 63 years. WOODS: James “Jim” “Woodsy” of Chatham

With profound sadness we announce the passing of James “Jim” “Woodsy” Woods after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 at the age of 62.  Eldest son of Irene (nee Hewitt) and Alfred Woods. Loving husband of Shannon (nee Bell). Cherished step-dad to Chad Côté. James will be forever remembered by his much loved in-laws Fred and Mary Anne Bell, and Donna and Ken Remsik. James is survived by his brothers Jerry and Cheryl, and Blake and Doreen. He was “Uncle Jim” to his two nieces, Rachel and Sarah. James spent 26 years teaching in Chatham-Kent. He immensely enjoyed travelling, camping, and was very passionate about nature. The family wishes to thank all of the physicians, nurses, and personal support workers who showed such care and kindness towards James. As per James’ request cremation has taken place. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2018 at 94 years of age.  Loving Wife of the late Czeslaw (1991).  Adored Mother of Teresa Zajac, Frank (Cathie), Henry (Ann), John (Kim) and Barbara Kubit (William). Proud Babcia of Carolyn Marangelli (William), Michael Zajac (Nina), Justin (Melanie), Nicole, Andrea Tiessen (Alex), Laurie McLeod (Ryan), Jaclyn Smith (Jeremy), Bryan (Chelsea), Christopher, Lauren, Jason Kubit (Ashley) and Emily Kubit. Dear Babci-Babci of Camilla, Nadia, Enzo, Ava, Madilyn, Ben, Micayla, Katia, Charlie, Max, Annabelle, Wyatt, Everly and Sean.  Sister of the late Witold Marut (Christine) and the late Kazimiera Marut. She will be sadly missed by her cousin and many nieces and nephews.

Anastazja was born in Sierakowka, Poland and at the age of 16 she was taken prisoner by the German Army and became a slave labourer in a munitions factory in Milspe, Germany. Her family and home were erased by the genocide in Wolyn, Poland in 1943. She was liberated by the US Army in 1945 and sponsored by Canada to start a new life in the fall of 1948.

Anastazja was a dedicated parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and also served as President of the Polish Womens Auxiliary Post 126 and a committed member of the Rosary Society. Anastazja enjoyed to volunteer and support many other Polish organizations and events.  One of her great joys was her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Mom was selfless always putting family and others before herself.  Her garden, home and heart were open to all.

Passed away peacefully at the Hospice Residence on April 17, 2018 at 73 years of age.  Beloved partner of James W. Shea for 13 years.  Loving mother of Alain Summerside (Nicole), Normand Summerside (Dolores) and Melanie Summerside.  Reunited with her late parents Theodore and Thérèse.  Dearest sister of Nicole, Michelle, Pierrette, Lucie, Lorrainne, Denis, Yvon, René and Sylvie.  If you so desire, memorial donations to the Hospice of Windsor or to Family Respite would be appreciated by the family.  Cremation has taken place.  Many thanks to all the staff at WRH-Ouellette Campus and Hospice of Windsor for all of your compassionate care of Monique to the end of her  journey.

 

Monique was a proud French Canadian who embodied the motto “One Country, Two Languages”.  Early in her career she worked in marketing and advertising in Quebec.  She came to Windsor in 2004 to head the French Translation Department of BBDO which handled advertising for Chrysler Canada. After her time in advertising, she started her own translation firm from home where she could work and tend to the garden she loved.

Beloved husband of the late Velma (nee Marzin) (2011). Loving father of Brenda, Robert & Lisa, Len & Tracey and Chris & Lana. Adored and devoted Nonno of Nicole (Corey), Nina (Matt), Michael, Ashley, Jack and Julia. Treasured Bisnonno of Avary. Cherished brother of the late Francesco (late Gianna), late Maria (late Nino), late Antonietta, late Berto (Rita), Carlo (Mary), Bruno (Lida), Gina (late Silvio), and late Peter. Passed away suddenly at home on April 21, 2018 at the age of 90.  Loving husband of Trudy (nee Pyke).  Dearest father of Nancy and husband John Cherry, Paul and wife Melody.  Cherished grandfather of Erin (Shawn), Brent, Alden, David (Natalie), Evan (Jessica), Adam (2012) and Olivia (Sahand).  Clayton retired from L K Metal Products as Service Manager after 30 years of dedicated service.   He was a long-time member of the Glenwood United Church choir and loved to sing at the drop of a hat.  Clayton was an outboard mechanic for 25 years and had a lifelong love of outboard motor racing, earning many championships.  Donations to Glenwood United Church would be appreciated.  Cremation has taken place. Adored grandfather of Jamie and Scott, Jodie; Bridget and Morgan, Brad and Sarah, Heather and Roger; Kendra, Josh; Nicole, Sean, Courtney; and Abby, Will, Kim and Cam. Loving great-grandfather of Brady, Liam, Max, Brooks, and Logan.
