MORTON (nee HUGHES): Beverley Jane of Abbotsford, B.C. Formerly of Toronto, Ontario

Posted by on October 7, 2015

It is with great sadness that we have to inform our family and friends of the sudden passing of our Mom on October 4, 2015 at 12:20 am.
Beverley (Bev), daughter of the late Thomas Percy & Margaret Ann Hughes (nee Kelly) was born in Toronto, Ontario on October 14, 1945. Loving mother to Kelly Foster and wife Annette, Kevin Foster and wife Susanne, Kristian Foster and husband Jason Rolland. Grandmother to four wonderful grandchildren, Allison & Michael Foster, Matt & Shelly Foster. Baby sister of Ronald Hughes and big sister to Carol Clark (nee Hughes). Aunt to Corrine Wright (nee Clark) and husband Ian. Great Aunt to Emma and Ethan Wright.
The daughter of a WWII veteran, Bev grew up in Downsview, Ontario within a stones throw of CFB Downsview. She attended Downsview High School and spent a lot of her childhood and young adulthood at Wasaga Beach. She met her high school sweetheart, Bryan Ernest Foster, at a shoe store in Toronto in 1962. A chance encounter at the Beacon in Wasaga Beach would solidify their fate as they would marry in 1963.
After the birth of her boys in 1963 and 1965, she went on to study hairdressing at George Brown College. A move to Wasaga Beach in 1974 and the birth of her miracle little girl, Kristian, in 1975 would complete her family.
An entrepreneur at heart and with many talents, she worked as a magazine editor, yoga instructor, teenage counsellor, hairdresser, restaurant owner, top Canadian seller of Aloette and a teaching assistant. She also had an artistic flair and passion for home decorating.
After years of undiagnosed health issues, she moved to B.C. in 2005 to live with Kelly and his family. Shortly thereafter, she would be diagnosed with Addison’s Disease which ultimately contributed to her early passing.
We are extremely thankful to Dr. Ken Dueck for the amazing care he provided our mom over the past 11 years. A very special thank you to the nurses and doctors in Emergency, Baker 3 & ICU departments of Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
A private celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Addison’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
