Passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, October 6 at the age of 88.  Danny was born September 13, 1924 in Kincardine where he met and fell in love with his best friend Joyce (October 25, 2008).  They grew up together and married on September 19, 1942.  Danny will be forever loved and missed by his children Dana Giofu and husband the late Sagar (2002), Daniel ‘Pete’ and wife Peggy, Cheryl Skilton and husband Dan, and the late Laurie Anne (1966).  Cherished Poppy to Lee-Anne Curtis (Wayne), Tara Leithead, Steve Giofu (Jenn), Jennifer Heath(Cody), the late Danny Leithead (2001),  Jackie Lariviere, Devon Sokoloski, and fondly remembered by Adam Sokoloski.  Loved Great Poppy to Kevin & Eric Curtis, Taylor & Jacob Heath, Alexis Lariviere, Lucan & Kaitynn Sokoloski, Alexa Soucie and Chase Giofu.  Danny is the son of the late Jack & Jean and brother of the late Gladys, Tommy and Velda; brother-in-law of Lloyd Fyke (Joyce).  Many nieces and nephews survive.  Danny lived in Kincardine and Oldcastle until a recent move to Iler Lodge in Essex.  Danny was a veteran of World War II, a mechanic by trade and a retired employee of Transit Windsor and member of the local A.T.U. 616.  Danny loved spending time at the cottage on Pelee Island, whistling, listening to the Spitfires on the radio and eating anything sweet.  The family would like to thank the staff of Iler Lodge Nursing home for their exceptional care and compassion that was given to Danny during his time there.  Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home & Reception Centre, 87 Maidstone Avenue East, Essex (519-776-4233) on Tuesday from 3-9 p.m.  Funeral Service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held, from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Paul Poolton officiating.  Interment Kincardine.  Memorial donations may be made to A.L.S.O.
