LAUR, Ross James: Age 71 of Point Edward, Ontario. After a long, hard fought battle with prostate cancer, Ross passed peacefully on October 22, 2012 surrounded by the love, care and compassion of the St. Joseph’s Hospice of Sarnia family. Dear son of Dorothy (Jean) Laur. Beloved husband of Mary (Bradshaw) for 47 years. Devoted father of William (Bill) Laur and his wife Sherrie of Mexico/Calgary and Christina (Tina) Laur and her husband Guillermo Perez of Guatemala. Loving grandfather of Jolene Cudjoe and husband Mike and James Laur of Calgary and Carolina and Yolanda Perez Laur of Guatemala and great grandfather of Isaac Cudjoe. Dear brother of Dorothy Nielsen (Ole) of London, brother in law of Judy Laur of Salmon Arm BC, Anne (Tom) Randall of Point Edward and Margaret Cuthbertson of Sarnia. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by father Raymond Laur (1999), brother Leroy (1999) and granddaughter Kimberley Laur (2002). A retired Real Estate Broker and Appraiser, Ross was a long time member of St. Luke’s United Church and his community involvement included the Masonic order, Seaway Kiwanis, Sarnia Legion Branch 62, VON, Point Edward Police Services Board and Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.  A private family interment will take place at Moore Union Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Smith Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice or one of the many organizations Ross was so devoted to (cheques only at the funeral home please).   Memories and condolences may be sent online at
