LATIMER, Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (nee McLean) It’s with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ms. Elizabeth “Betty” Latimer on October 23, 2018, one week shy of her 87th birthday. Peacefully at home, in Barrie, with loved ones by her side. Betty was born in North Bay, Ontario, to Ethel and Herbert McLean. Sister to Ronald (predeceased, WWII), Doreen (predeceased), Dorothy, Barbara, Audrey, Gayle, and Pat. Beloved mom of Christine Scott (George), Cheryl Clark, predeceased by her son Douglas Latimer. Nanny to Heather Breadner (Isaac), Brandon Scott, Samantha Cvar (Nick Wagar) and Jesse Latimer. Great Nanny to Tia, Payton, Alex, Isaac, and Elliott. Betty was a devoted primary school teacher in North Bay, Keswick and Newmarket, Ontario. An avid quilter, voracious reader, and lover of Canadian Art. Betty had been an active member of several quilt guilds, and the Northwest Barrie United Church. In addition to a full career as a teacher, Mom, Nanny, and Great- Nanny, Betty was an active volunteer within her community. She volunteered with The Maycourt Group, Gingham Door, and was active in school breakfast clubs. Betty had requested that cremation would take place, and a small family gathering of immediate family to take place at a later date. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the palliative care team who helped Betty be peaceful at home, as wished. Condolences may be placed at www.drivercremation.ca
