LANKIN, Mrs. Barbara “Babby” (nee MacKenzie), of St. Thomas, passed away at her residence on Saturday, December 1, 2012, in her 90th year. Wife of the late Samuel C. Lankin (2002). Dear sister of Margaret Fries, Katherine “Kaye” Barry and her husband William, all of St. Thomas, late William T. MacKenzie, and the late George A. MacKenzie. She was the step-mother of Daniel Lankin and his wife Susanne of Murphysboro, IL and the step-grandmother of Bethany Lankin of Chicago, IL. Also fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Born in Dartmouth, NS, January 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George and Catherine (nee Hyland) MacKenzie. Mrs. Lankin was a member of Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas, the Catholic Women’s League, and was a former member of the folk choir of the church. Relatives and friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Thursday evening, Dec. 6th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. (Prayers at 8:30 p.m.). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels’ Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas on Friday, Dec. 7th at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to Holy Angels’ Church Restoration Fund or Animal Aide gratefully acknowledged.
