LANCE, DorothyThe family announces with great sorrow her passing at her residence in Val Caron, surrounded by her family, on Friday, March 7th, 2014 at the age of 90 years.  Wife of the late John Lance.  Daughter of the late Stewart and of the late Adelina (née Pleau) Gardner.  Beloved mother of Philip Lance (Paulette Trudel) and Colette Lance both of Val Caron, Michelle Ricard (Garry) of Wahnapitae, Pauline Robillard (Jack) of Barrie and Daniel Lance (Cindy) of Sault Ste. Marie.  Predeceased by her daughter Denise Patterson (Jim) of North Bay. Loving sister of Beatrice Larivière (late Fred) of Pembroke, Doris Bonnah (late Kenneth) of Ottawa and Father Russ Gardner (late Jeanne) of Sudbury.  Predeceased by her siblings Lorne (late Betty), Ethel (late Dorilla), Eva (late Gerry) and Roméo (late Rose).  Sadly missed by 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  Lovingly remembered by many relatives, friends and her canine companion Oscar. Dorothy was a cancer survivor who will be remembered for strength, and her ability to confront many challenges in her life.  She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, loved her political discussions, and had an insatiable need for knowledge through her many readings. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Malette, the C.C.A.C. and Claire and Nathalie from Maison Vale Hospice for the compassionate care shown towards mom. The family will receive relatives and friends at the COOPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E., SUDBURY, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 15th, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Ste-Marguerite d’Youville Church, Val Therese.  Donations (by cheque only) to the Maison Vale Hospice would be appreciated.
