Passed away peacefully as he wished, in the company of his family, on August 20, 2013 at the age of 86. Married to the love of his life the late Doreen Kelch (2002), for almost 54 years, he has missed her every day since her untimely passing. Together Paul and Doreen raised 6 daughters and 2 sons. Loving ‘Dad’/ ‘Pops’ of Marilyn Chedour (Randy), Bea Martin (Daniel), Jan Fisher (Jack), Karen Lozinsky (David), Pat Scalia (John), Pam Cowie (Chris), Paul F. Laforet (Debbi) and Lloyd Laforet. Cherished pepe of 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Leo Laforet (Eileen), Diane Stewart (Ken), and Lucille Lapointe. Predeceased by brothers Vincent, Francis, Jean-Louis and by sister Marie-Louise Pouget. Brother-in-law and dear friend of Shirley Kaitz. Paul was a valued long-time employee of Woodall Construction Company. He was a hard-working man whose love of family and faith anchored his life. At one time an avid bowler and golfer, in recent years his chief enjoyments were following his favourite sports teams on TV and regular outings to the Slots at Windsor Raceway and to Casino Windsor. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the dedicated personal support workers from Saint Elizabeth Health Care who so ably assisted Dad over the years. Very special appreciation is extended to the Malden Park treatment teams on floors 3South and 2North where Paul resided for the past year. Each one of you shared your expertise with him by providing nursing care or one of his various therapies. You encouraged him in everything. You shared jokes, smiles, hugs and stories. Paul looked forward to seeing you every day. Thank you also to Dr. Sheehan and Dr. Aoun for their respectful attention to Paul’s care. Two church communities figured prominently in Paul’s life: Assumption Church, Windsor was his home parish for most of his life, where he served as altar boy, usher, member of parish council and where many family baptisms, first communions, confirmations, marriages, and funerals took place. For the past decade, Sacred Heart Church, LaSalle has been his primary place of worship. Donations to either of these churches in Paul’s memory would be appreciated. Visiting Friday 3-5 & 7-9pm. Prayers Friday 4:30pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841.
