LaDu: June Rose (nee Woods) formerly of Guelph, ON
Passed away peacefully on February 18, 2014 at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, Ontario. Born in Montreal on June 7, 1921, June lived in Toronto, Guelph, Cleveland, White Sulphur Springs WV, Virginia Beach VA, Burlington and Waterdown, ON. June had a great many acquaintances over the years, work colleagues and Little Theatre friends throughout her very eclectic, diversified and creative life. She played the piano at the Jack and Jill Nursery School and the Audrey Rosin Dance Studio. She modelled for Canadian artist York Wilson and is the focus of the painting “Lady on the Stairs”. She wrote for Better Homes and Gardens and was very successful with Illingworth Real Estate. She worked for many years under Dean McCready and Dean Wardlaw as Assistant to the Dean in the Department of Family and Consumer Studies, University of Guelph, before moving to Cleveland in 1974. She worked at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV for the Julia Childs’ Cooking School as well as modelling at the Greenbrier Golf and Country Club before retiring to Virginia Beach. She volunteered at the Virginia Beach Mental Health Clinic for 10 years receiving the Volunteer of the Year award for her dedication and commitment. June was involved in the Guelph and Virginia Beach Little Theatres for many years doing everything from ticket sales to being President. She received the VB Volunteer of the Year Award for her 20 year commitment. Coming from a very musical family, June was always very creative, loved the arts, interior design, portrait sketching, jazz piano, theatre, literature and writing. The recent addition of Jake the Havanese puppy to the family has brought great joy to her.
Survived by her children Brett (Buddy) McKenzie and wife Jan of Bedford, NS; daughter Jill Kelterborn (nee McKenzie) and husband Larry of Waterdown, ON; stepson Andy LaDu and wife Ann of North Carolina; grandchildren Nathan, David, Sarah Louise, Katie Emma, Christopher McKenzie; Cara and Kenzie Kelterborn, Caitlin Hibrant and husband Dale; Heather LaDu; her niece Judith Strand and husband Ray of Everett, Washington; nephews Gerry Moore and wife Diane of Kelowna, BC and Jamie Moore and wife Tricia of the UK. June is predeceased by husbands James Anderson LaDu (2004) and David Bruce McKenzie (1961), brother-in-law Dr. Robert LaDu (2014), her sister Jacqueline Moore and parents Gerda and John Woods.

Cremation has taken place.
