Kuley - obitphotoPeacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health on Monday, October 21, 2013, Cezary Joseph Kuley passed away at the age of 91.  Beloved husband of Erika. Loving father of Richard (Dawn-Merie), Michael (Sandee), Edward (Karen), and Peter. Cherished grandfather of Renee, Lisa, and Kevin and of three great-grandchildren. Dear brother-in-law of Günter Brust (Doris) of Germany. Survived by his nephew Heniek Kulej (Luzina) and their children Tom (Shannon) and Anna.  Cez had the good fortune to live a long life, and one far from ordinary.  At the age of 22, Cez was a 6-year survivor of the Dachau concentration camp.  Following liberation by the American Forces, he attended university in Darmstadt, Germany for chemical engineering and it was there that he met Erika.  After immigrating to Canada in 1951, Cez soon worked for Dow Chemical in Sarnia where he received many accolades and also invented a new type of chemical sensor, aka “the Kuley Probe.” This led to an early retirement from Dow, when he formed his own successful company (Process and Pollution Monitoring Systems Inc.) which kept him busy for many years, well into his 80’s.  Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, with family and friends being received from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Christ Lutheran Church (cheques only at the funeral home please).  smithfuneralhome.ca
