Peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, October 21, 2012, Phyllis Shirley Knott (formerly Porter, nee Nicholls) of RR 1, Woodstock in her 91st year.  Wife of the late Mike Knott and the late Beverley Porter.  Beloved mother of Joan Coakley (Mike) of Kentville, NS, Lea Porter of Kitchener, Mary Leis (Bob) of Woodstock, Rick Porter (Julie) of Woodstock, David Porter (Helen) of Hamilton, and step-mother of Tom Knott of California, Steven Knott (Gwen) of London, and Ann Knott of Toronto.  She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.  Sister of Keith Nicholls (Marilyn) of Burlington. Survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her sisters Jean Eaton, Doris Woodend, Vivian Currah, and Ruth Smith, and her brother Ray Nicholls.  Also predeceased by her companion Jack McJanet, and lovingly remembered by Jack’s sons Ted and Jack Jr.  Phyllis was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55 Ladies Auxiliary, the Woodstock Red Hat Society, the Woodstock Choralaires, and had been a lifelong member of Chalmers United Church.  She led line dancing for the “Movers and Shakers” and enjoyed playing Rumoli and Bingo.  Friends will be received at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  Funeral Service at Bethany Lutheran Church, 175 Springbank Avenue North, Woodstock on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 1:00 pm.  Interment at Oxford Memorial Park Cemetery.  If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, VON Sakura House, or Bethany Lutheran Church would be appreciated.  Smith-LeRoy, (519) 537-3611.  Personal condolences may be sent at www.smithleroy.com
