Richard (Dick) Franklin Garnette – June 29, 1936 – January 8, 2015 has gone to be with his Lord. Loving Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Survived by the love of his life, Norma (Gatecliff), and his daughters Sharon (Gary) Bond, Tracey Kettle (Ted), Kathryn (Gavin) Hutchinson, and Kim (Richard) Eaton. Also survived by his grandchildren Kayla Bond (Jordan), Katelyn Kettle-Houle (Nick), Jennifer Rae Eaton, Garnette Kettle, Tawnnee Eaton, Tylor Houle, Courtney Kettle and his great-grandson Stephen. Dear brother of Wayne Kettle (the late Betty 2010), Ralph (Lynn) Kettle, Larry (Karen) Kettle, and sister Pat Frizzell (the late Hugh 1993). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and his dog Biscuit. Predeceased by his parents Richard (Dick) and Francis Kettle, his son Matthew Kettle, and his uncle Harold (Spide) Kettle. Dick taught music for 30 years and enjoyed every minute with his students sharing his joy of teaching them one of his greatest loves. Dick spent 23 years at Dashwood Industries where he retired from. He spent the last few years doing various jobs to keep himself busy and to stave off boredom. Dick spent his life between Sarnia and Parkhill and loved his summer trailer. Dick enjoyed meeting people and had many friends and acquaintances, he loved life and time spent with his family. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home please).
