Jacobus “Jake” Kerkhof, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, January 19, 2014. He was 84.
Born in Den Haag, Holland on August 31, 1929 to Johannes and Cornelia (Steijger) Kerkhof. Jake was employed as a Repairman at Durham Furniture.
Survived by children Margaret (Bryan) Crispin of Hanover, John (Carolyn) Kerkhof of Halifax, Paul (Susan) Kerkhof of London, Wilma (Vince) Poechman of Hanover, loving grandchildren Canda (Justin) Dixon, Nancy (Brooks) Pfaff, Jorge (Shelee) Crispin, Nick (Rachelle) Kerkhof, Elizabeth Kerkhof, Kimberly Kerkhof, Jennifer Kerkhof, Lisa Kerkhof, Craig Poechman, Jason Poechman, great grandchildren Mia and Jayce. Jake will be fondly remembered by his brother Martein (Wil) Kerkhof of Holland, two sister in laws in Canada and a brother in law in the U.S.A. as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada, Holland and the U.S.A. Jake will be remembered by his family friend Tine Shipper in Holland. Predeceased by his four sisters, one brother and many brothers and sisters in laws in Canada, Holland and the U.S.A.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:30 am, at Holy Family Church. Cremation with inurnment in Columbarium Wall at Hanover Cemetery, Hanover.
