JOHNSTON: John Wallace “Wally”, of London, formerly of Port Stanley, passed away at LHSC, Victoria Hospital on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, in his 80th year. Loving partner of the late Frances M. Wilson Temple (2011). Dear step-father of Elizabeth Crandall (Joe), David Temple (Laura), Brenda Parsons (Dave), all of London, Pamela Temple of Chatham, and Bonnie Josten (John) of Lyons. Cherished brother of Sharon Johnson (Carl) of Sarnia. Special friend of Bill, Marie, and Moe. Also lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews (especially by Sherry Crandall). Born in Sarnia, ON, September 15, 1937, he was the son of the late John and Florence (nee Ryckman) Johnston. Wally was a retired fisherman for Ryersee Fisheries, Port Dover, and a former driver for the Port Stanley Cab Company. He was a member of the Last Post Branch #410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley for 39 years, where he was also a former bar steward. Wally was a proud volunteer with the Port Stanley OPP. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Wally’s life will be held at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, February 10th at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received by the family from 12:30 p.m. until the service time. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Liver Foundation gratefully acknowledged.
