johnson obit PhotoOn Saturday, March 8, 2014, at home, Peter passed away at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 53 years of Diana. Very proud father and vocabulary coach to Sarah and her husband Craig, David and his wife Ranji, and Rebecca.  Grandad and spoiler-in-chief to Jed.  Brother of Gordon, the late Malcolm, and Christopher. Peter was born in Poole, Dorset, England and attended Oxford University, where he earned a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry and later the University of Waterloo where he earned a Master of Applied Science. Peter and Diana immigrated to Canada with two young children in 1967. Peter worked 22 years for Polysar as a rubber mixing technology specialist. He later worked for GenCorp in Wabash, Indiana and Welland, Ontario. After retirement, he worked as a rubber mixing consultant. He was known and respected in his field around the world.  When his children were young, Peter routinely gave up his Saturdays to chauffeur them to numerous activities and to play on the swings at Canatara Park. When his children were in high school and college, he spent many hours playing cards and board games with his children and their friends, although most games ended in claims of moral victory or the threat of the return of the dinosaurs. He volunteered for several years with the St. Bartholomew’s cub pack and, later in life, assisted as an instructor with Adopt a Scientist. He was looking forward to doing community service work with the Golden Kiwanis group he recently joined. He was a member of the Bluewater Community of Mindful Living. Cremation has taken place.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Organization for Literacy in Lambton.  Memories and condolences may be sent online at
