JOHNS, Audrey Margaret – October 11, 1926-November 17, 2013.
Audrey (nee Davis) Johns passed away peacefully at Bella Residence.
Audrey was the much loved mother of Christopher (Joyce), Beverley (Scott) and Mark (Lisa). She was the devoted Nannie of Nathan and Elliott Johns, Caitlin, Michael and Stephanie Daly, Natalie and Christina Johns and Great-Grandmother of Emma Daly. Audrey is survived by her sister Marion and family in London, England. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William Stanley (2012), her mother, Helen (Nellie) Abbis, her brothers in the UK, Brian, Roy and granddaughter Joyeux “Pip” Johns (1997). Audrey had a very adventurous spirit. After the loss of her first husband John Hipkin, she came to Canada from the UK in 1955 with her best friend, also named Audrey. She met her future husband Stan in Toronto in 1956, and they were married in 1957. They returned to the UK in 1959 where they spent many happy years with family and good friends in Wales, before returning to Canada in 1974. Wherever Audrey and Stan travelled they made many wonderful friends, especially Beryl and Clive Ford. Audrey was an extraordinary character. She felt we are here to make the world a better place. She was a beautiful, kind and gentle soul. She had a loving and generous heart, always giving to others and putting herself last. Everyone she met adored her and said how much better she made them feel just by her caring nature. She felt it was her role to make everything beautiful for others. She took the elderly and the lonely under her wing and invited them to her home for endless cups of tea, or more often than not, Christmas dinner. Everyone was family to Audrey. Apart from her family, Audrey’s pride and joy was always her garden. She excelled at growing roses. She was a beautiful English rose herself. In keeping with the way Audrey lived her life, please do a good turn for others, keep a smile on your face, and plant some roses. A very special thank you to the staff at Bella for their care and compassion. Family will receive friends at the MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main Street, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 o’clock. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Cremation will follow. As an expression of sympathy those who wish may make a donation to a charity of your choice.
