Rowena Blanche (Ferguson) Jenken in her 82nd year. Surrounded by her loving family, Rowena Blanche (Ferguson) Jenken in her 82nd year passed away on February 8, 2013. Born June 4, 1931 to Archibald J. and Rowena (Brown) Ferguson, Rowena married George Alma Jenken on April 2, 1949. Three children, Ronald George, Raymond David and Ruth Ann¸ were raised on the family farm at Lot 15, Concession 13, North Yarmouth, County of Elgin. Rowena worked side by side with George farming, yet still found time to lead 4-H Homemaking clubs, sew, embroider, knit, crochet, do preserves and quilt. Rowena was an active member of St. James Presbyterian Church, North Yarmouth for many years: serving as a member of the Willing Workers, convening church events and being a founding member of St. James Church Thrifty Quilters. Rowena made many quilts over the years for children, grandchildren and others. Lovingly remembered and missed eternally by her husband George, her son Ronald, daughter-in-law Mary (Watson), her son Raymond, daughter-in-law Jan (Seaward), her daughter Ruth (Jenken) Burdick, her grandchildren Wayne Jenken & Kristen Buckel, Sarah & Adam West, Janine Jenken, Julia & Mark Loft, Jaela & Kevin VanBommel, David Burdick and 4 great grandchildren, Tyler & Nicholas VanBommel, Lucas West and Wensley Jenken, her sister and brothers Kay Griffith, Duncan (Betty) Ferguson and David Ferguson and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, North Yarmouth on February 16, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Donations can be made to St. James Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.
