(Florence) Viola Hubley, March 7, 1916 to March 12, 2014, 98. The very best daughter, big sister, wife, Mother, Nannie, Great-Nannie, Aunt and friend. Born in Newcastle, N.B. to Richard Wood and Katherine Wood, predeceased by five siblings, Gerald, Aurel, Audrey, Roderick and Donna, survived by Garfield. Predeceased by her husband James Claude Hubley in 1967 whom she loved her entire life. Her three daughters Jo Hayes (Gordon), Joan Thorne (Bob) and Barbara Spencer (John), five grandchildren, Trevor, Lindsay, Aimee, Jenny and Robin, great-grands, Katherine, Eli, Rhys, Trey, Riley and Liam will never forget her unwavering love, devotion, guidance and generosity. Mom was favourite Auntie Vi to her many nieces and nephews and considered them all part of her fold. She made many friends from the pool, church, friendship groups and volunteering in community events. She moved to Legion Village in Cobourg in 2002 where she established a beautiful perennial garden. Her favourite activity was volunteering at the Cobourg Ecology Garden. For her 95th birthday Mom asked that any gifts be donations to the Children’s Butterfly Garden. The Monarch Butterfly became Mom’s passion. She was active with others in their survival, planting, encouraging involvement and even helping to band them for tracking. We will miss her but she will be in our hearts forever. A service to honour the life of Mom will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home Limited, 30 King Street E. Cobourg, visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., service at 2:00, light luncheon to follow. Those wishing may make a memorial donation by cheque to Cobourg Ecology Garden.
