Howey, Dorothy Mary (MacDonald) of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, October 17th, 2012, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Donald “Dutch” Howey and loved mother of Rod Howey and his wife Gaetane Howey of Dutton, Marilyn Lynch and her husband Charlie of St. Thomas and the late Donald “Butch” Howey (2006) and his wife Carolyn Howey of St. Thomas. Dearly loved and forever missed grandmother of Derek, Chad, Roderick (Melany) and Ashley Howey, Vanessa and Blaine Dedecker, Lisa Lynch, Steve Marshall and great grandmother of Brent Marshall, Landon Lynch-Campbell , Tyler, Brittani, Ashley, Amber and the late Hailey Lynch. Dear sister of Theresa and Jack LaValley of Vancouver, Jeanette MacDonald of Woodstock, Agnes and George Philbrow of Winnipeg, Lena and Steve Morse of Aylmer, Stella (late Andre) Wilson of St. Thomas and David and Wendy MacDonald of St. Thomas. Dorothy was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick on November 30th, 1930, the daughter of the late Roderick and Emily MacDonald. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Dorothy worked at Erie Iron. She was a member of Holy Angels’ Church.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

“God saw that she was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His loving arms around her and whispered, “Come with Me.” Golden heart stopped beating…hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
