unnamedHooper: Jack  one of the last remaining WWII veterans in the Dresden area, passed away on Tuesday November 11, 2014 at age 91, just hours after witnessing his final Remembrance Day service.  His enthusiasm for life and youthful exuberance was present until his final days.  Jack is now reunited with his wife Norma (Nov. 13, 2011), daughter Barbara, sister Helen Glover, brother Herbert Hooper and many other friends and family members who passed before him that will welcome him with open arms. Jack lived his entire life in Dresden, putting smiles on faces all over town. His presence will be dearly missed at Canadian Canners, Branch 113 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the horse barns at Dresden Raceway, Park Street Place Retirement Residence and Tomiko Lake in Northern Ontario. His memory will continue to shine in the lives of his son Barry and son-in-law Rod Lorimer (Brenda), grandchildren Emily and Dan (Lisa). Jack was a life member and former Past President of the Dresden Legion Br. 113. Visitors will be received at the Thomas L. DeBurger Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Saturday November 15 from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Canadian Legion Br. 113 Dresden will conduct a Legion Memorial Service at the funeral home Saturday at 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.  Interment in Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made by cheque to Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
