Passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in his 82nd year.  Beloved husband of Joyce for 49 years.  Loving dad to Richard (Carol) and Robert (Kim).  Grandpa to Lee-Anne (Bruce), Matthew, Lyndsay, Jessica, Sonny, and Nik.  Great-grandpa to Tavish and Ella.  Survived by his sister Isabelle and nephews Vince, Larry, John and Mike.  Predeceased by his sister Norma Ann and parents John Arthur Sr. and Margaret (nee Michie).

Dad was a longtime employee of the Hamilton Street Railway and proudly worked as a route supervisor until his retirement in 1994.  Besides work he enjoyed many other hobbies and pursuits, including helping to raise and look after his Shih Tzu family. As well, dad was a devoted baseball and hockey fan, worrying about the Blue Jays right to the end.

Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11 a.m.  Reception to follow.  Interment Woodland Cemetery.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the wonderful care provided by Dr. Plach and her staff at the Carpenter Hospice.  Their kindness and support allowed Dad to live out his final days in comfort and dignity.
