HERBST – Petrus ‘Pieter’ Herbst of St. Thomas passed away suddenly at home at the age of 75.  Pieter is survived by his loving wife Heather.  Pieter began his career with General Motors in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and worked his way up the corporate ladder.  Leaving the car floor behind him, he headed up a training school in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) for 3 years, after which he returned to Port Elizabeth where he travelled extensively, training GM employees throughout the African, American and European continents.  After his career of 25 years at GM, he then continued training students with Eastcape Training Centre in Port Elizabeth, until finally heading up his own training business before immigrating to Canada with Heather in 2001.  In 2005 he began working as the Intake Coordinator, Student Legal Liaison and Commissioner at Teen Challenge London.  Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from St. Thomas Pentecostal Assembly 144 Wellington St., St. Thomas.  Cremation to follow.  If desired, donations to St. Thomas Pentecostal Assembly, Teen Challenge London or Eitz Chaim Messianic Fellowship would be so appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at www.shawnjacksonfuneralhome.com
