Peacefully at his home, while surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, May 11, 2012, Colin Hekert was called into glory by our Lord and Saviour at the age of 28 years after a valiant fight with cancer.  Cherished husband of Sarah (nee Beintema) and wonderful Daddy to Emily and an unborn child expected in July.  Dearly loved son of Ed and Ellen Hekert, and dear brother of Rebecca and Reuben Bredenhof, Erica and Josh Sieders, and Trevor and Vanessa Hekert.  Uncle Colin will be greatly missed by nieces Abigail, Kyra, Sasha, and Tori Bredenhof and Hailey, Sophie, and Erin Sieders with whom he often played.  Loved son-in-law of Steve and Gerlinda Beintema and brother-in-law to Fred and Marc.    He will also be fondly remembered by grandparents Hessel and Wubiena Dantuma, Maria and Hein VanLuik as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins both in Canada and the Netherlands.  Long time best friend of Dustin Ludwig and his wife Danielle.  Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  A private family Interment Service will be held in Caledonia Cemetery.  A Memorial Service will be held at TRINITY CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 32 Unity Road, Caledonia on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11 a.m., Rev. R. Vermeulen officiating.  Reception to follow in the church hall.  Special thanks to palliative care nurses Jeanette and Nevada and Dr. A. Gunning & Dr. M. Krzyzanowska.
