Peacefully at Extendicare Cobourg, on Tuesday October 23, 2012, in her 98th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Harold “Doc” Hayden (1971). Cherished mother of David (Peggy) and predeceased by her treasured children, Carol (2008), Tim (1981), and John (1938). Loving grandmother of David (Nancy), Elizabeth (Jim), Matthew (Lisa), Chris (Carolyn), Victoria (Kip), Jennifer (Charles), and John. Proud great grandmother of John James, Alexandra, John, Olivia, Andrew, Eric, Robin, Marie, and Grace. Born and raised in Cobourg, she moved with her family to Fort Erie in 1947. During her 38 years in Fort Erie, she was very civic minded. She was a general manager of the Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce, president of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary of Douglas Memorial Hospital and chairman of the board of D.M.H. In 1985, she returned to Cobourg. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Extendicare Cobourg for the dedicated and compassionate care she received. Friends and family will be received at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 200 King St. W., Cobourg, on Saturday October 27, 2012, from 1 pm until time of service at 2 pm. Interment at Cobourg Union Cemetery will take place following the reception at the church.
