Hay - web picOn Sunday, July 7, 2013, Sue Hay passed away with her family gathered around her at St. Joseph’s Hospice.  Sue is predeceased by her parents Ralph and Pat Cantlon of Saskatoon and Victoria, her sister Constance Jamieson, and her brothers Bill and Harry. She leaves, in addition to her loving husband Jim of 62 years, her children Pat (Mike Schroeder), Charles (Sandra), Jim (Debbie) and Joan; and grandchildren Lauren Schroeder, Dylan, Alex, Mike, Gillian, and Regina.

Sue had a wonderful childhood in Saskatoon and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan. Her prime concern was her family and she made a loving home in Tulsa, Toronto, Sarnia and Midland, MI as the family moved around.  She was an active volunteer, particularly for over 25 years as treasurer and a director of the Gallery in the Grove. She enjoyed many friends and an active social life. With a lively sense of humour and a laugh to match it, she lived her life with style and grace.  She lived for her family and throughout her life she enjoyed her children, and in later years her grandchildren, and hearing about their lives. She is sadly missed.  During her long battle with cancer she was well taken care of by many health professionals, particularly her family physician Dr. Vornberger; Dr. Yoshida and Dr. Dostaler and the staff at Bluewater Cancer Clinic; CCAC (Rosemarie); the VON nurses (Dianne) and PSWs (Renee); and finally by Dr. Maddison and the dedicated staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, 500 Errol Rd. W., on Friday, July 12, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.  Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Cancer Clinic (89 Norman St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 4T7) or St. Joseph’s Hospice (140 Water St., Sarnia, ON, N7T 5T4) (cheques only at the funeral home please).  smithfuneralhome.ca
