Dan was born into eternal life Thursday, July 31, 2014, while in the loving arms of his beloved Susan Renaud. He was 72 years of age. Dan, along with Elaine (Dickey), were the proud parents of Gerry & wife Karen; Angie & husband Michael McFadden; Michael & wife Jennifer; and Jason & wife Brenda. He was the beloved Papa to Dominique, Noah, Amber, Faith, Connor, Brock, Deryck and Rachel. Dan will be sadly missed by Sue’s family; Jim & Monica; Teri; David & Lynne; grandchildren Sarah, Christina and Matthew, along with treasured friends Patty and Jan. He is also survived by his twin brother David; brother Paul & wife Arlene; his sister Elaine and sister-in-law Mary. He was pre-deceased by his brother Roger and parents Henry & Margaret. Dan will also be missed by many special nieces and nephews.
He was a retired principal with the ECRCSS Board having worked at St. Michael’s and St Louis in Leamington, St. Joseph in River Canard, St. John the Baptist in Belle River and Holy Name Essex. A man of generous spirit with a strong work ethic, Dan also served the educational community in past roles as the ECRCSS Board’s Summer School Program Co-ordinator; leadership training facilitator and was a past president of the Principal’s Association. He was a faithful member of St. Anne’s Parish, Tecumseh.
Dan volunteered his services with several community organizations throughout the years including the Essex County Association for Community Living, Meals on Wheels and the United Way. He was also a former member of the Tilbury Lion’s Club. Memorial donations in Dan’s honour can be made to Second Chance Ministries of Tecumseh, which operates Community outreach programs to those in need, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Visitation will be Wednesday August 6 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 4 pm at Families First 1065 Lauzon Rd. East Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Thursday, family and friends are invited to meet at St. Anne’s Church, 12233 Tecumseh Rd E., Tecumseh after 9:30 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am. Cremation to follow.
