Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health Palliative Care, Thomas Harris fought with sheer determination and unwavering will power to continue in his 83rd  year, having to finally concede that the battle was lost on January 11, 2013, into the loving arms of his wife Beverley.
Beloved husband of the late Beverley (nee Lewis) (2012).  Loving father of Lisa (Mark) Gordon, Pamela (Wayne) Paradis, Ann (Pat) Johnston, Janet (Gary)Nesbitt, Deborah (Dan) Dutrizac, and John Cousineau.  Loving grandfather of Danielle, Jeffrey, Trevor, Anastasia, Jamie, Kelly, Brooke, Joanne, Shelby, Chelsey, Wayne, Micheal, Denese, Jeffery, James and Leslie.  Great-grandfather of 20. Dear brother of Nenone Baldwin (the late Herbert). Will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.  Also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law. Predeceased by his parents Norman and Morna Harris.
Thomas loved sports; he played football on the Sarnia Imperials and coached, refereed and volunteered with various sports teams in the community. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62, a past member of the Ontario Horse Race Association and loved to play bridge.
The family would like to thank the nurses of the Palliative Care Unit at Bluewater Health, as well as the unit helpers. A special thanks to Brenda Moss of Bayshore who provided the best of care to dad. A special thank-you also to Dr. Sharma and Dr. Maddison.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 13, 2013, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Smith Funeral Home.  Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.   Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 62 Poppy Fund (cheques only at the funeral home please).
