Formerly of Flamborough, Peter came to Canada with his parents in 1947. Married his wife Shirley in 1951 and produced a large loving family. Cherished grandmother of Kevin, Nicole, Crystal, Tyler, Ashley, Felicia, Serena, Jonathan, Elizabeth and 9 great grandchildren. Beloved sister of Marcel Turgeon, Denise Thrasher and Colette Kingsbury, sister in-law Marguerite Dayman. Missed by her many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her brother Paul and sister Paulette. Mom was a cashier for A & P at the Christina Street and London Road locations for 19 years. She will be greatly missed by the staff and many friends at Marshall Gowland Manor. He is predeceased by his daughter Linda Burns, by his son James Ross and his daughter in-law, Marlene Ross. Earl is the stepfather of Susan (Rick) Mette of Belleville, Katherine (Peter) Lam, Robert (Renee) Livingston, both of Oshawa, Sandra (Bruce) Carriere of Trail, BC and Amy Taylor (Frank Horvath) of Hamilton. He is the proud grandfather of Michelle (Treffor), Cindy, Andrew (Amal), Adam (Joelle), Matthew, Michael (Melissa), Jordan (Melissa) and Rebecca (James). Obituary

BIRK, Marge – Passed away peacefully in Brussels, Belgium on June 4, 2014, with her husband of 44 years at her side, after a long struggle with ovarian cancer.  Born Margret Süske on January 29, 1950, in Bodenwerder, Germany, she emigrated in 1957 to Edmonton, Alberta then, after marriage in 1969, lived in Kingston, Sudbury, Hamilton, Calgary, Sydney (NS), Oakville and Vineland, gathering friends everywhere.  She is survived by her husband, Dieter, three daughters Cassandra, Marcella and Heidi as well as her mother, Margarete in Heritage Village and her father Eberhard at the United Mennonite Home.

We thank the oncologists, and nurses of the Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, ON. and Universitair Ziekenhuis, Brussels for their care and compassion during her epic battle.  The cancer did not defeat her beauty, grace and courage. She inspired Ovarian cancer patients, world-wide as the Warrior Queen. Cremation took place in Brussels, to be followed by private family arrangements in  Vineland, Ontario.

Passed away at Southlake Regional Hospital, Newmarket on Saturday June 21, 2014. Muriel (McTaggart) of Apsley in her 94th year, wife of the late Herbert William Omand. Loving mother of Bonnie Griffiths (late Ted) of Powasson and Wayne (Judy) of Jacksons Point. Also missed by her son-in-law David Holt. Stewart, TomSTEWART, Thomas Russel “Tom” – Passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in his 81st year, after attending a retirement party near Milton, ON.  During his years as a long distance truck driver, Tom acquired many, many friends and acquaintances all over North America.  He was the last surviving member of his family.  Tom was an avid collector of everything old, odd and unique.  Cars, trucks,  tractors, toys and various other items of interest to many.  As a known authority on vintage autos, and a member of almost every vintage collectable club, he was often asked to provide information to hobbyists with similar interests.  For more than 50 years, Tom’s red, 1909 Ford Model “T” was a familiar sight in Woodstock’s Victoria Day parade. Friends will be received at Old St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 723 Dundas Street, Woodstock on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 12 noon until 12:45 p.m.  A complete funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Archdeacon Richard A. Long time locomotive engineer at VIA Rail, former police officer with the OPP and Metro Toronto Police. Will be missed by many very good friends and extended family. Brad loved nothing more than getting together with friends and family, and was always at the centre of the crowd, keeping everyone entertained with his jokes and stories. IMG_0003Peacefully, at his home on Sunday, May 25th, 2014. Robert Lyle King of Rodney in his 82nd year. Cherished husband and dearest friend of his wife, Betty of 61 years. Dear father to William (Susan), Harvey (Judy) and David (Andrea). Loving grandpa to Stefanie Joseph (Richard), Kristopher, Kathleen (Yannick), Evelyn Flanagan (Jason), Heather, Lisa (Dave), Emily (Josh) and Sarah (Nik) and great grandpa to Jesse and Josh Joseph. Survived by his sisters Beatrice Clinton and Doris Schweitzer and brother in law Harvey Friedrich (Marg). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and his sisters Margaret Waite and Velma King. Bob’s passion for farming was evident to his family, friends and neighbours. He spent countless hours advocating for social justice in the farming community. He was a long time dedicated member of Knox Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. In retirement, he gave up the plow for the pen and authored numerous books about his life.
Friends may call at Calvary United Church, Rodney on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 from 1 to 2 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Greg Simpson officiating. Loving Mom of Cathy (Norm) Crosty, of Brighton, Michigan, Pat (Debbie) Kenney , of London and Janice (Don) Woychyshyn, of Barrie and the late Paul Kenney. Dear sister of Ivan Connelly (late Vi), the late Melvin (Marg), Giles (Gladys) Connelly, Norma (late Cliff) Curran, Wanda Vanderham and Marian Crozier. Cherished Grandma of Cari-Lee and Nathan Crosty; Patrick, Devin, Erinn and Caylin Kenney; and Alissa, Lana, Tyler, Jon and Maria Woychyshyn. Grace shared a special affection with her nieces and nephews. Devoted daughter of the late John and Florence Hunter of Valens. Dearest mother of Paul Dunn and June Gunn and her family, Janet McRobert-Dunn, David Dunn, Beverley Young and husband Errol, Gary Dunn and his wife Teri. Loving Grandmother of Nathan, Kayleigh, Meaghan Dunn, Jeff Topham and his wife Kendra, Derek Topham and his fiancée Nichol, Brandon Dunn, Kirstyn Young and Nick Pope, Curtis and Quinn Young. Great-grandmother to Cale and Bristol Topham and Brooklyn Pope. Survived by brother Neil Hunter and his wife Shirley of Valens and sister Kathleen Jalkanen and husband Peter (predeceased) of Dryden, Ont. Marion was born and raised in the Valens, Kirkwall community. She worked as a nurse for 42 years at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She dedicated herself endlessly to family, community and God.
