Marion GaylardMarion, in her 96th year, with her loving daughters by her side, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. The world has lost a very special lady whose sparkling blue eyes, beautiful smile and generous spirit captured the hearts of all who knew her. Predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Frederick Gaylard. Much loved and adored mother of Shelley and Marnie. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Annie Campbell and sister Norma Torrance. Aunt, cousin and friend to many who will greatly miss her. Marion was a graduate R.N. of Hamilton General Hospital class of 1940A. She was a dedicated nurse both at the Hamilton General Hospital and McGregor Clinic, Hamilton. She was a member of the choir at West Plains United Church for 45 years and a charter member of West Plains U.C.W. Many will remember her husband Frederick Gaylard, former Inspector with Halton Regional Police Service. The Gaylard family would like to extend our thanks to all the doctors, nurses and support staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital 7 Flex, and 5th Floor Complex Care Unit, who cared for our mother. Sincere thanks to Dr. Mark Grafham, our family physician for all his support and wonderful care. Passed away peacefully with family at his side at Bluewater Health Palliative Care on Saturday, March 1, 2014, RICHARD OLIVER WALLER, age 57 of Sarnia . Much loved  husband of Karen (Font) Waller, cherished father of Troy and his wife Kathleen and much love grandfather of Kaiden. Unexpectedly at his home in Waterdown on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, Mike Kondrat at the age of 47 years.  Beloved husband of Lisa (nee Garvey) and loved father of Tiffany, Michelle, Victoria, Matthew, Therese, Christian, and Nicholas.  Dear son of Stanley and Sharon Kondrat and son-in-law of the late Wayne and Dorothy Garvey.  Loved brother of Gerard (Norma),  Joe (Nancy), and Mary-Jo (Daryl) Vint and brother-in-law of Wayne (Trish) Garvey, and Steve (Tracey) Garvey.  He will also be missed by his uncle and aunt, Bill and Brenda Stenning and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was very passionate about his family; he loved to play music and work in his woodworking shop and enjoyed playing hockey and jamming with his friends.

LaDu: June Rose (nee Woods) formerly of Guelph, ON

June LaDuPassed away peacefully on February 18, 2014 at The Carpenter Hospice, Burlington, Ontario. Born in Montreal on June 7, 1921, June lived in Toronto, Guelph, Cleveland, White Sulphur Springs WV, Virginia Beach VA, Burlington and Waterdown, ON. June had a great many acquaintances over the years, work colleagues and Little Theatre friends throughout her very eclectic, diversified and creative life. She played the piano at the Jack and Jill Nursery School and the Audrey Rosin Dance Studio. She modelled for Canadian artist York Wilson and is the focus of the painting “Lady on the Stairs”. She wrote for Better Homes and Gardens and was very successful with Illingworth Real Estate. She worked for many years under Dean McCready and Dean Wardlaw as Assistant to the Dean in the Department of Family and Consumer Studies, University of Guelph, before moving to Cleveland in 1974. She worked at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV for the Julia Childs’ Cooking School as well as modelling at the Greenbrier Golf and Country Club before retiring to Virginia Beach. She volunteered at the Virginia Beach Mental Health Clinic for 10 years receiving the Volunteer of the Year award for her dedication and commitment. June was involved in the Guelph and Virginia Beach Little Theatres for many years doing everything from ticket sales to being President. She received the VB Volunteer of the Year Award for her 20 year commitment. Coming from a very musical family, June was always very creative, loved the arts, interior design, portrait sketching, jazz piano, theatre, literature and writing. The recent addition of Jake the Havanese puppy to the family has brought great joy to her.
Survived by her children Brett (Buddy) McKenzie and wife Jan of Bedford, NS; daughter Jill Kelterborn (nee McKenzie) and husband Larry of Waterdown, ON; stepson Andy LaDu and wife Ann of North Carolina; grandchildren Nathan, David, Sarah Louise, Katie Emma, Christopher McKenzie; Cara and Kenzie Kelterborn, Caitlin Hibrant and husband Dale; Heather LaDu; her niece Judith Strand and husband Ray of Everett, Washington; nephews Gerry Moore and wife Diane of Kelowna, BC and Jamie Moore and wife Tricia of the UK. June is predeceased by husbands James Anderson LaDu (2004) and David Bruce McKenzie (1961), brother-in-law Dr. Robert LaDu (2014), her sister Jacqueline Moore and parents Gerda and John Woods.

Predeceased by her companion Fred Iliffe. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Penny and Fred Long of Port Dover, Charlene and Mike O’Keefe of Petawawa and Deborah of Simcoe. Cherished grandmother of Matthew, Shelby, Tara, Justin, Lindsey, Janice, Jason, Christopher, Trevor and Samantha and numerous great-grandchildren. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lorne Ryerse and Shirley Kennington of Port Dover, Shirley Coulson of Port Dover and Bill Lediard of Port Dover. He is dearly loved by many and will be deeply missed. Matthew is survived by his parents Karen Pental, Martin and Jody Sandig; siblings Justine, Sterling and Alicia Pental, Ryan Sandig, Hailey and Alyssa Baker. Cherished grandson to Sterling Tooke and the late Clara Tooke (2012), to Paul and Jackie Sandig and Yvonne Doherty. Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth Anne Latimer (nee Pierce), born on April 11, 1921 in Joyceville, Ontario died on February 12, 2014 after a long, creative, and courageous life.  Trained as a bacteriologist at Queen’s University, she first worked for Agriculture Canada and then in the private sector.  She married and became a devoted mother and grandmother.  Throughout, she was an avid gardener, nature lover, pet ally, creator of beautiful things and ardent supporter of her causes, friends, and kin. She was predeceased by her husband, William Richard Latimer, her sister Hilda Kidd, her brother Charles Pierce and many friends.  Her children – John (Pierrette) and Catherine (Dwight), her grandchildren – Sarah (Kien) and Amanda (Chris), her nieces and nephews, and her many friends will remember her with love.

A Memorial Service will held in the Chapel of the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main Street, Elgin, Ontario on Saturday morning February 22, 2014 at 11 o’clock. Smith; AliceOn Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, in her 98th year.  Beloved mother of Gini and her husband Bob Newman of Petrolia, grandmother of Alicia Newman of Hamilton, Rheana and Mike Criscione of Toronto, Rob and Nicole Newman of Petrolia, and Alexandra Smith of Toronto, and GG of Audrey and Elise Newman, and Malcolm and Alice Criscione.  Dear sister of Lona Felker of Stoney Creek.  Predeceased by her son Trevor (2001) and her husband of 60 years, Malcolm (2003). Alice was proud to be a breast cancer survivor (20 years).  Alice was the oldest of six children born to the late Everett and Effie Nelson.  She graduated from Saltfleet High School and the Hamilton General School of Nursing (last living member of the class of 38B).  During the war years she was a nurse in a wartime production factory.  Following the war she followed Malcolm as he pursued his education and career, first to Ajax and then to Etobicoke where she was honoured by the Red Cross for her years of volunteer service.  Finally in 2002, she moved to Petrolia to be near family.  Visitors will be received on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia.  A funeral service celebrating Alice’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 from the Donald V. MaxineHunter (1)Lila Maxine Hunter (Gartley), surrounded by all nine of her children passed away at Kingsmere Retirement Home in Alliston, Ontario on Sunday, January 26th, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born May 26, 1926 in Hamilton, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Francis James (Frank) after 53 years of marriage, her brother Ken Gartley, her daughter-in-law Dianne Hunter, and her grandson Jonathan Hill. Maxine grew up in Strabane and attended Dundas District High School. She worked for Bell Canada before starting her family. She and Frank raised their children in Freelton where she was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League. They later moved to Burlington and then on to Alliston after Frank passed. Maxine is survived by: Marsha Taylor (George) of Vancouver, BC; Paul Hunter (Janet) of Barrie, ON; Gerri Fearman (Doug) of Alliston, ON; Robert Hunter (Mary) of Streetsville, ON; Theresa Schoenfeld (James) of New York City, NY; Marie Clark (Allan) of Vancouver, BC; Joan Hill (Lorne) of Markham, ON; James Hunter (Leanne) of Princeton, NJ; and Elaine Hunter (David) of Vancouver, BC. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Justin, Kate, Kim, Andrew, Tammy, Adam, Jill, Adam, Simon, Kelly, Nathan, Matt, Natalie, Carly, Riley, Michael, Katie, Megan, Abigail, Jordan, Cole, Laura, Ethan, Addison, Kate, Kesler. Last survivng sibling of brothers Harold, Orville, Gerald and Gilford, and sister Rhea. Ring, Brian stat-newsRING, Brian – born in Leeds, North Yorkshire, and most recently of Woodstock,  went to be with God and his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary; on Saturday, January 25, 2014 in Woodstock ,ON.  He is survived by his son Dean, daughter-in-law Diane, grandson Patrick and his son Rory, partner Michelle and grandsons Devon and Simon.  Brian’s career as a Professional Engineer ( Mechanical) engaged him in hydro-electric power production projects around the globe.  He was a committed Christian and was read widely and deeply in theology.  Brian also expressed his deep faith as Bandmaster of the Earlscourt Citadel Band until his retirement.  His interests ranged from music to woodworking, to mastering Thai cooking.  Brian adored his wife Mary, and his family was most treasured to him.  A private family funeral will be held at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington Street, North, Woodstock, ON, and a Celebration of Life Service will take place at the Woodstock Salvation Army Community Church at a date to be announced.  If desired, donations to the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal would be appreciated.
