Helen Gunning (139x200)Gunning, Helen (Cott) of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013, peacefully, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Elbern F. Gunning (1976) and dear sister of the late Lindsay Cott and the late Jean Carr. Loved aunt of Richard Carr (Marnie), Gerald Carr (Juanita) and the late Fred Cott (Eunice). Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Helen was born in Dorchester, ON on June 24th, 1915, daughter of the late Frederick and Aletha (Walden) Cott. She attended school in London and then worked for 40 years in the office of the Metropolitan Stores in London and St. Thomas. She was a member of Talbotville United Church for over 70 years where she was actively involved in the church U.C.W. and choir. She was also a member of Eastern Star – Maple Leaf Chapter, The Paynes Mills Institute, The Port Stanley 55 Plus Club and The St. Thomas Seniors Centre. She enjoyed life fully and will be dearly missed but forever in our hearts and memories. Her unconditional commitment to her family and her friends will forever be her legacy.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, ON where visitation will be held Monday from 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Talbotville United Church on Tuesday at 1:00pm with visitation at the church from 12-1pm. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery.
