Passed away suddenly Monday May 21, 2012 at the age of 81 in St. Catharines, Ont., Survived by her best friend and husband of fifty years, Robert R. Magrum. Much loved mother of Linda Laroque and Kerenna Gunn. Dear sister to Teresa MacGregor of Smithfalls. Foremost, Georgette lovedCanada, and made many trips from coast to coast during her life. She enjoyed the beauty of our land and the sense of freedom that being on the road brought. She was happiest when traveling with Bob, camping and fishing, and visiting far-off family and friends.
Those who knew and loved Georgette appreciated her creative spirit most of all. Talented in so many ways, whether it was knitting, bird houses, woodwork, crocheting or weaving, she was always willing to share the fruits of her efforts with others. To those of us less quick, she gave most generously of her knowledge and insight.
That creativity extended to her talent in the cooking arts as well. Long before it was popular, she championed the goodness that came from growing one’s own fruit and vegetables and eating as close to nature as possible. Family and friends have enjoyed and shared many meals over the years that were the result of that talent and of her hospitable nature.
This was a woman who loved her family deeply. She was a generous, caring spirit who lived as close to nature as was possible. She was unique and cherished. We will miss her always.
“I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain.”
When you wake in the morning hush
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.”
