Peacefully, at her residence at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, on Friday, January 16, 2015, Thelda Irene (née Hardick) Griffin, passed away at the age 87. Thelda, formerly of Sarnia, was a lifelong area farmer with her husband, the late Bob, and a member of London Road West United Church. Thelda was an avid sports enthusiast, following her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities. Her fond pastime was her love of cooking and baking. All her family knew to raid the freezer for the stock pile of butter tarts they knew would be on hand. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Robert Kennedy Griffin (2006). Loving mother of Linda Moore (Ray), Murray Griffin (Pat), and Laurie Griffin (Sue). Much loved grandmother of Michael Moore (Karen), Kim Moore (Dave Evans), Kathy Nichol (Fred), Beckie Dunn (Andrew), Kelly Reichheld (Dan), Sherri d’Orlando (Michael), Jason Griffin (Jennifer), Michelle Griffin (Dale Cooper), and Chris Griffin (Karen). Treasured great-grandmother of 19 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Dale Hardick (Bonnie), the late Ray Hardick (survived by Mary), the late Ken Hardick (survived by Joyce), the late Lorne Hardick (survived by Wilma), and the late Shirley Thompson (the late Glen). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her daughter Deborah Thelda Griffin (1963), her in-laws Don and Charlotte Griffin and Jean and Walter Patrick, and her mother and father Clinton Earl and Huldah Prudence Hardick. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a funeral service commencing immediately at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow in Blackwell Cemetery.
