GREEN; Margaret (Marg) Yvonne (nee Graham) of Petrolia
Died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, in her 85th year. Marg is survived by her husband, Robert and their children, Cheryl (David) of London, Annie of Petrolia, Janice (Morris) of Port Alberni, B.C. and Tom (Mary) of Corunna. She is the cherished grandmother of Alayna, Kelan, Jessica (Ronald), Geoffrey, Moy Jr., Crystal, Kaitlyn and Robyn. Marg is the loving great grandmother of Taten, Liam, Johnson (Sharon), Adam, Mianna and Elias and great great grandmother of Alexus. Fondly remembered by her nieces Janet (Michael) and Anne and nephews David, Donnie and Jim and grandniece Caroline. Nancy Jacques of Petrolia, was her special, steadfast friend. Marg, daughter of the late Mary Robertson and Edward Graham, was predeceased by her brothers Donald, Dr. Blake and Bill and a nephew John Graham. She was born on February 6, 1928 in Dawn Township in the house built by their father on the farm of her grandfather, George, just north of the Presbyterian Church and the Knox Dawn School. After attending school at Dresden, she completed High School in Petrolia and then attended the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing, London. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in the Class of 1949. She enjoyed working in the O.R. Marg nursed at the C.E.E. Hospital, Petrolia for the next four years prior to her marriage to Dr. Robert Green in 1951. Marg will be remembered for her nursing years at C.E.E. Hospital, as the business administrator of her husband’s veterinary practice, for her leadership as treasurer of the C.E.E.H. Nurses Association as well as for her faithful attendance at the tri-annual gatherings of the Vic’ Class, Fall ’49. She is known for her work with the I.O.D.E. and other community groups and as an organizer and first vice-president of the Southwestern Ontario P.C. Ladies Association of the 1980’s. Cremation has taken place along with a private family interment. A public celebration of Marg’s life will be held at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Petrolia on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 11 AM. A reception will follow.
