GOODING,Ralph M. “Dick”, of St. Thomas, formerly of R.R.#8, St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, in his 88th year. Husband of Jane “Jean” (nee Jackson) Gooding. Father of Eva Hurst and her husband Allan, and Ralph Gooding and his wife Manda, all of St. Thomas. Grandfather of Becky (Allan), Katie (Jordan), Andy (Katy), Lisa (Scott), Eva (Dave), and Brian. Great grandfather of Fiona, Olivia, Brooke, Luke and Jackson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ralph was the last surviving member of his own immediate family, having been predeceased by two brothers and a sister. Born in Watertown, Massachusetts, July 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Frederick and Eva (nee Bostwick) Gooding. Ralph came to the St. Thomas area from New Brunswick in 1961. He farmed for many years at R.R.#8, St. Thomas and was a former employee of Canadian Woodenware, St. Thomas. Ralph was an adherent of St. James Presbyterian Church. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church, 44936 Ferguson Line (corner of Ferguson Line and Yarmouth Centre Road) on Friday, November 23rd at 1:30 p.m. Private inurnment in the columbarium at South Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. James Presbyterian Church gratefully acknowledged.
