GADD, Miep (Maria van Oosterom) – Peacefully, with her family at her side, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Miep of Peterborough, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late Ken Gadd for 57 years. Loving mother of Lynda and Mike, both of Peterborough. Sister of the late Huibert van Oosterom, late wife Judy (UK), the late Willem van Oosterom, surviving wife Joan (NZ), and the late Meidie Lampkin, late husband Gordon (UK). Miep was loved by nieces and nephews in England, New Zealand, Holland, Edmonton, Calgary, Lakefield, Peterborough, Deep River, and Ottawa. She will be remembered for her participation at the Peterborough Bridge Club; The Canadian Federation of Retail Grocers, where she was co-Director with her husband Ken; the Bethany Ski Club where she sat on the Board of Directors; and the Peterborough YWCA, where she served on the Board of Directors.  Miep was a lifelong dog owner and animal lover. She was an athlete, competing in swimming, field hockey, water polo and badminton. She was an alpine, Nordic and water skier and an ice skater. She was a gardener, a home maker, an extraordinary handywoman and an amazing mother. She was rarely seen without a book or knitting needles, she loved to make bobbin lace, weave and sew clothing.
