Mark Gregory Franke, 51, of Ottawa Ontario, passed away on May 3 2014 after a long battle with a brain tumour. Mark was born in Pembroke Ontario on July 28 1962.

Mark was an original! A free spirited gentle soul who was playful and loved to have fun. He dreamed big and followed his own path in life. He was true to himself and was generous and thoughtful with others. He possessed an intense independence of thought and had a deep general knowledge of many things which he used for his creative pursuits.

He loved to be exposed to new experiences and sensations and he viewed life as an opportunity of self-expression. He had many interest and passions such as cooking, computers, guitars, and cars and was partially obsessed with the Bugatti Veyron J.

Music, guitars & the drums were a particular passion of his and he had many musical idols, such as Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin, Steve Vai, Trent Reznor.

He strongly felt that we were all connected here on this earth through music.

As one of his music idols (Jimi Hendrix) so eloquently quoted: The story of life is quicker than the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello, goodbye.

Goodbye to a dear brother, cousin, and friend. You shall be sorely missed.

Mark is survived by his mother Helena (née Bendig ) and brother Norbert. His father, Karl Heinz Franke and his brother Eric Franke precede him in death.

The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday May 15 2014.
