FRANK: Pauline “Polly” (Alvaro) of St. Thomas, Ontario
Pauline “Polly” (Alvaro) Frank
Surrounded by her loving family at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday January 26, 2013, Pauline “Polly” Dorothy Maddalena Frank of St. Thomas, in her 83rd year, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Polly is predeceased by her parents, Angeline and Vincent Alvaro of Italy. Dearly loved mother of Dan, John, and Jimmy Frank, Kathy Wales and her husband Scott and Lisa Dunseath and her husband David. Dear sister of Sam Alvaro and his wife Marie of St. Thomas, Jimmy and his wife Piovena of Toronto, Carm McNea of St. Thomas, Rose Braden (Phil) of Hamilton, Bill Alvaro (Mary) of St. Thomas, Pat DeCandido and her husband Jack of London. Predeceased by four sisters, Mary Dolphin (Jack), Grace Spruce (John), Marguerite Alvaro, and Ann Barfett (Stanley) and also three brothers, Frank (Christine), Joseph, and Dominic (Deana) Alvaro. Sadly missed by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and the children she loved unconditionally. Polly was born in St. Thomas on June 15, 1930. She had an appreciation for the smaller things in life that often go unnoticed. Polly shared her love of arts, crafts, baking, cooking, and sewing with all the children she cared for and nurtured. She would never deny anyone a game of cards, the opportunity to offer her wisdom, or a trip to Vegas. Polly will be remembered as a strong, independent, and selfless woman with a big heart who brought family and friends together. An invitation was never needed—her door was always open. Polly was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and parishioner of St. Anne’s Parish.
