web_Foster, Anna MarieIt is with saddened hearts that the family of Marie Foster of Windsor, Ontario announce the passing of their wonderful mother on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at Hotel Dieu-Grace Hospital, in her 92nd year.  Mom will be missed by many, including her immediate family: Helen and Bob Belanger of Wasaga Beach, Tom Foster and Janet Ste. Marie of Windsor, Cathy Brighton of North Vancouver, B.C., Lynn and Adrian Vander Vloet of Parkhill, Colleen and John Stolp of Paris, Laura and Frank Perna of Georgetown, and Louise Clancy of Whitehorse Yukon. Marie was predeceased by her adoring husband Frank Foster (1997)  and son in- law Dick Brighton (2010).  She is survived by 19 grandchildren, 2 stepgrandchildren and 2 great-grand sons as well as several nieces and nephews and her very special friend Marianne Deschamps.

As a graduate of nursing from St. Michael’s Hospital  in 1944, Marie’s  career began at Christie Street Veteran’s Hospital in Toronto, caring for wounded soldiers. She often told her stories of the celebrations during VE Day. One of the highlights for this period of Marie’s life was her voyage in 1950 on the Queen Elizabeth 1 to Europe where she met the Pope.  She had a rewarding nursing career, returning to work when the youngest, twins, were in grade 1. She balanced her time between family¸ work and friends (especially the bridge club). Her endeavours at the Windsor Salt Company lasted long after her retirement.  She was often requested to provide her nursing opinion to many friends through her life, and always ended by saying “but go see your doctor”.  Mom and Dad always took time for holidays on amazing camping trips with their young family, trips with friends, or visiting their many grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of the CWL for years and an enthusiastic member of the Southwinds Koffee Klatch. If you so desire, please make a donation to your own travel fund and be sure to take a special trip, living life to the fullest. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive friends on Monday June 10, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Families First 3260 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-969-5841. On Tuesday June 11, family and friends may visit after 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church (1400 Cabana Rd. W.) followed by Funeral Mass at 11 am.
